History

Deer Leap features very high quality rock. It is an ideal place for trad climbing and top roping. The cliff ranges from 70 to 110 feet in hight. It was first climbed in 1946 by Arni Kirbach and Carl Acker. Arni Kirbach and sons climbed most of the lines on the main cliff and top rock.

Every square inch of the main cliff (left side) starting from the OFF WIDTH to THE TREE has been led with natural gear. NO BOLTS ARE TO BE PLACED ON THIS SIDE OF THE CLIFF. Fixed belay/rapel anchors were installed in November 2001 in order to preserve the fragile environment. These anchors are taking the burden off the trees up top that are already severly dammaged from years of top roping abuse.
